(P5) Offline Edit
Offline Edit -
The offline edit for our advertisement is where we will generate the base structure of our entire promo. This means that we order clips and timings to create a sensible order in our advertisement. This edit will have no visual changes, it will only involve inputting clips, blank spaces and sound. The later online edit will involve all of the more interesting editing techniques such as images and masking.
I used this offline edit to structure and visualise what the final advertisement may look like, and also give me us chance to find some ideas for the editing. This also means that we can play around with the style of the video, and move video clips around to suit how we want it to feel. This all adds up to create a prefect final video that fills the criteria, and fits the style that we need.
Creating an Offline Edit -
I started by downloading the clips from a shared OneDrive file that I created for the group. I sued this so that I cloud import the photos from my camera to my phone, and then upload them straight to OneDrive. Then I imported all of these clips into Adobe Premier, and assured that the quality of the video clips was good.
After this, I started dragging the video clips into the software, and began choosing the videos I wanted to use and the order I wanted to use them in. I made sure that the clips followed a chronological sequence, as some of the clips were filmed to come before other ones. for example, the videos of the amp being turned on and the guitar being plugged in should come before the playing to maintain continuity and realism throughout the advertisement.
This final screenshot is of the finished offline edit. The total of the video ranged to 30 seconds, even though we had over 2 minutes of clips. This is because after careful selection, we decided not to use most of the clips as they were either shot badly, did not fit with the video or they were overexposed/underexposed.
